Foundation Governor – Mr Martin Hughes

Background

Having spent 30 years as an officer in Cheshire Police I retired in 2010 when my son was 6 months old. He started in Reception at Lower Peover in 2014 and in 2015 I was appointed as a Foundation Governor.

I feel very privileged to be part of the governors here at Lower Peover and took on the role with enthusiasm and drive to help the school achieve their goals and expectations.

I sit on the Curriculum Committee and I am the Link Governor for EYFS & Safeguarding. I have had the opportunity to be part of many school events, often taking an active role. You can always find me taking care of the vegetable beds or tending the plants in the school playground!

My main aspirations for my time as governor is to develop parent engagement with both the school and the governing body.

Outside of school my main hobbies are gardening, baking cakes and I have recently taken up yoga! I am also a regular pub quizzer.

It is true what they say, that when you retire you don’t know how you ever found the time to work!
