Mrs Debbie-Jayne Maddock – Year 3
Art, DT and Maths lead
I have been fortunate to work as a teacher in a variety of schools in Cheshire since graduating in 1993. I have worked in a variety of Cheshire schools and with the full range of KS2 year groups, but have spent most of this time at Lower Peover CE Primary School. Since rejoining the Lower Peover team in 2015 following the birth of my third child, I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching Year 3 and guiding children through this important transitional stage. Over the years I have led a variety of subjects including: Literacy KS2, Maths, P.E, Music and Art. Whilst leading maths in my previous school, I was also part of the Senior Leader Team. I have been very involved in music and art (my specialism) over the years in school and have led hymn practice as well as run a school choir and after school art activities.
Why I teach
It has always been my wish to teach and encouraging children’s enjoyment of their whole school experience is an important part of my philosophy. Being artistic myself, I strongly believe that Children’s individuality and talents should be celebrated and form an important part of their education. Providing exciting lessons, where the curriculum is taught creatively across the range of subjects, should form the basis of good teaching and it is a privilege to be able to do this.
Painting and drawing, playing the piano (Les Dawson style), cinema, spending time with my family especially my very active 3 year old, Grace!
Something you don’t know about me!
I used to sing for a Jazz Swing band called ‘Uncle Henry’s Pork Chop Review’ and was a regular musical performer for amateur theatre. I used to paint and sell abstract art, a hobby I hope to return to some day.
