Mrs Sharon Dean – Head Teacher
b.a, p.g.c.e, l.t.c.l, n.p.q.h
Headteacher with responsibilities for ensuring the efficient running of the school whilst monitoring the effectiveness of the teaching and learning provided for the children. Assessment is my main area of responsibility, although a passionate musician too. In addition I support Cheshire West and Cheshire as an Associate School Improvement Adviser (ASIA).
My teaching career started many years ago at a very deprived school on the Wirral, where I stayed for four years teaching years 3, 4, 5 and 6. I was promoted after my first year of teaching. As I had started my family in 1988 it was time to gain a position in Cheshire, to be nearer home. I secured a position at an infant school where Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 were in the same classroom! I became acting Deputy Head at this school. This school then amalgamated and I found my self teaching Years 2 and 3 together, followed by Year 5. I then moved as Deputy Head to another Cheshire Primary School where I taught Year 6 for three years. At this school I achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship (N.P.Q.H) I was then fortunate to obtain the position at Lower Peover, where I have been Headteacher since 2005.
Why I teach
Teachers make a difference where no child should be left behind! I went into teaching to fulfil this dream. For me it is all based on strong and trusting relationships where children discover and build on themselves. Children never finish learning nor do we. My aunty had been a Headteacher and I always admired her achievements.
I LOVE horses. As a child I was brought up breeding horses and riding my own horses regularly. I still manage to ride occasionally, but my time is now taken up watching my youngest daughter eventing and my middle daughter show jumping. We currently own 4 horses, one of which is a home bred. The remainder of my time is taken with my granddaughter, who we hope to get riding by the age of 2! I also play the clarinet, saxophone and piano.
Something you don’t know about me!
I enjoy analysing data on a Saturday evening whilst watching X Factor!
