Mrs Rachel Kruithof – Piano Teacher

Teaching Career

I currently teach piano at Lower Peover CE Primary School and St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School, Northwich, as well as privately. My pupils range in ability from complete beginners to advanced and follow the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exam syllabus. Before focusing on instrumental teaching I was a Secondary School Music Teacher and Form Tutor, during which time I enjoyed teaching music at Key Stages 3 and 4 and running choirs, orchestras, bands and world music groups. Prior to this I worked in a local primary school as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, working with Key Stage 2 pupils. I have also spent two summers teaching classical and jazz piano at a specialist arts and music camp in New Jersey, USA.

Why I teach?

I am passionate about music and committed to enabling my pupils to develop their musical abilities to the full.

Hobbies

I play the violin in a local orchestra, like to go for long walks in the countryside and sometimes cycle! I also like to try and grow vegetables in my garden!

Something you don’t know about me!

I am also learning Dutch and hopefully one day I will be fluent in the language!
