Hockey Tournament

On Monday evening some of our Y5/6 children took part in the cluster school hockey tournament, at Holmes Chapel High School. The team did exceptionally well and came runners up of the competition. They earned their silver medals after beating Goostrey, Holmes Chapel, Peover Superior and Hermitage.

The children were brilliant, and all worked extremely well as team. Congratulations and well done to: Rafferty, Oliver P, Lily S, Jenson S, Ethan, Theo, Tom, Zach and Noah.

The next tournament is Netball on Monday 11th March.

World Book Day 2019

Every day at Lower Peover we aim to inspire a love of reading and writing in school and create budding authors and illustrators of the future. It is wonderful that once a year we also get the chance to celebrate books across the country collectively and come dressed up as character from a favourite book.

All the children looked simply magnificent in school yesterday, thank you so much for your support with their outfits.

The book swap that we held also went down very well; I hope the children enjoyed bringing home a new book to keep and share with you at home. Well done to the winning children for their amazing costumes: Hugo Binyon, Anna Thomas, Philippa Wilson, Amber Clements, Joe Amore, Sidney Causer and George Wither.

‘The more you read, the more things that you know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.’ Dr Suess

Recycling Batteries

20,000 tonnes of batteries end up in landfill sites. This is the same weight as 4,000 elephants. We are committed to recycling and have agreed to recycle batteries. The recycling bin is situated by the side entrance, in the corridor, where the children come into school. Please send in the following batteries: AA, AAA, C, D and 9v (the 9v batteries need to have the top taped)

Parents Evening – ALL YEARS

This year’s parents’ evening will continue to take on the format used in the Autumn term. You will be invited to visit their child’s / children’s classrooms to view their books, etc. You will then make your way down to the hall, where you will be seated. For teachers to keep to your scheduled appointments, teachers will ensure that the ten-minute slots will be adhered to. We will again be using our online booking system, which opens on Friday 15th February 2019.  Please use the following link:

Easter Discos

The Easter Discos will take place on Monday 25 March after school. The Reception and Key Stage 1 disco will begin straight after school and will finish at 5pm. The Key Stage 2 disco will start at 5.30pm and end at 7pm.  All children will have a hot dog, drink and Krispie cake. The cost of a ticket is £5.00, and all profits will be donated to FLPS. Tickets will be available on parent pay next week.

The discos are popular events and the children absolutely love them. We always have such a fantastic response to requests for help and we couldn’t run these events without the support of the parents.  If you can help with either the setup of the discos, during the events or making Krispie cakes please contact Debbie Rutter.
