Curriculum Intent 2019-20
We have created a curriculum that is designed to develop an in-depth knowledge of the subjects taught in our school. Our exciting curriculum will encourage children to become active learners and will provide them with the opportunities to apply their core subject learning, so that children know more, remember more and understand more.
There are opportunities built into our curriculum that enable the children to develop their understanding and opinions on current affairs, within the society we live in. This is because: we want our children to become advocates of positive change in the future, successful pioneers and wise, empathetic citizens.
There is a strong emphasis on presentation, creativity and detail that encourages the children to take great pride in their work, and develop their confidence in their academic abilities. Our curriculum is reviewed annually, to ensure it is relevant to the current climate of the society our children are living in: we want them to make links with what they are learning and the world around them in order to develop their cultural capital.
In every class at Lower Peover CofE (Aided) Primary School, children will be passionate about what they are learning in their curriculum; they will be able to demonstrate their in-depth knowledge and the skills which they have acquired; and they will be able to articulate how their understanding links to the society they live in.
As a church school, we have a strong focus on Religious Education at the heart of our curriculum. RE is taught explicitly each week to an excellent standard, using high quality resources. We utilise our neighbouring church and the links we have established with them to aid the children’s learning experiences.
The children at Lower Peover have a strong sense of community and live out our school vision and Christian Values each day:
