“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord”

– Colossians 3:23

Curriculum Overviews by Year Group

We have developed a curriculum which is designed to result in a deep knowledge of the subjects taught in our school for the children. It is an exciting curriculum for the children where all groups will achieve by being active learners and having the opportunities to apply core subject learning whilst acquiring an in depth knowledge and progressive skills in every subject area. There are opportunities built into our curriculum which enable the children to develop their understanding and opinions on current affairs and the society we live in order to be advocates for change in the future.

We have carefully mapped out the curriculum so that it is historically chronological and so that all subjects are progressive so the knowledge children acquire is built upon and sticks. There is a strong emphasis on presentation, creativity and detail which is expected in order to show the children’s pride in their work and confidence in their academic abilities.

Our curriculum is reviewed each academic year so that it is relevant to the current climate of the society our children are living within: we want them to make links with what they are learning and the world around them in order to develop their cultural capital.

In every class at Lower Peover children will be passionate about what they are learning in their curriculum; they will be able to demonstrate their in-depth knowledge and the skills they have acquired; and they will be able to articulate how their understanding links to the society they live in.

As a church school, we have a strong focus on Religious Education at the heart of the curriculum and this is taught explicitly each week to an excellent standard, using high quality resources. We utilise our onsite church each week and the links we have established with the church to aid the children’s experience.  The children will have a strong sense of community and live out our school vision and British values each day: ‘Whatever you do, do with all your heart, as working for the Lord. With the Lord by our side, we strive for excellence in everything we do; aiming to achieve highly within our spiritual community. Working together under God’s guidance, we endeavour to become the best that we can be in our school, where the Christian faith is taught, experienced and lived.’
