Weekly Newsletter – Friday 10th May 2019
Thursday 23rd May – School Closure
We have now received official confirmation that the European Elections are going ahead, and school will be required for Polling. As a result, school will be closed on Thursday 23rd May.
Mrs Maddock is currently absent from school due to the ill health of her daughter, who we wish well. Mrs Williamson will be taking the Year 3 class until the half term break.
Morning Drop off Traffic
Please could we remind you that there is no overtaking in the loop in front of school at morning drop off. Please be mindful that children could be getting out of a car from either side. Your cooperation in driving considerately is appreciated.
Bikeability- Year 5
Well done to Year 5 children who have completed their ‘bikeability’ training this week.
Church Flower Festival- competition – thank you to those parents who have already replied. We are still in need of additional entries.
The children of Lower Peover have been invited to join in a competition to fill a wellie or fill a pot, or any suitable container with flowers to line the church footpath. Please could your entries be in school by Wednesday 3rd July. There will be a prize for one child in each class. We are looking forward to receiving your wonderful creations.
Please could you email email@example.com if you would like to enter the competition, so we have a record of how many wellies/pots etc to expect. Thank you!
External Music Lessons
A reminder that there will be no external music lessons next week (w/c 13th May) due to SATs.
From September 2019, we ask that children only have lessons on one instrument, in school, as more than one lesson has an effect on curriculum coverage and progress. Thank you.
Rearranged Spring Fair
We were very disappointed to postpone the Spring Fair, but it could not be avoided with such bad weather. We are thrilled that we have managed to find a new date and the Fair will now take place on Saturday 22 June from 1pm until 3.30pm. We hope that everyone will be able to support the Fair and we will send out a new volunteer sign-up sheet soon.
Mr B’s Bingo
Following the success of this event last year, we are really pleased that Mr B’s Bingo will take place again on Friday 17 May. The KS1 bingo will take place straight from school until 4.30pm. The KS2 bingo is from 5pm until 6.30pm. All the children will get popcorn, a Krispie cake and a drink whilst playing their game of bingo.
Tickets are now available on parent pay for £5.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to assist with the event so far. If anyone is able to help out at the event or with making Krispie cakes please let Hannah Burgoyne know.
This week school have received 32 new chromebooks which were funded largely by FLPS. Your support of FLPS events has made this purchase possible which will benefit the children hugely.
A huge thank you to Janet Bromley and Martin Hughes for organising the smarties challenge before Easter. This has been a massive success again and has already raised almost £600. Please hand in any remaining smarties tubes next week and we will announce the final figure raised in the next newsletter.
