Weekly Newsletter – Friday 15th March 2019
This week Mr. Bradley and I have been observing and interviewing candidates for an HLTA position. Thank you to the children in Year 4 who helped us. I am pleased to inform you that we have appointed two HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistants) to support teaching and learning throughout school. Mrs. Williamson will start at Lower Peover after the Easter holidays and Mrs. Adams will join us in September 2019. I am sure you will make then both very welcome.
Spring Fair – Saturday 27 April at 1pm-3pm
The Spring Fair has had an exciting revamp this year. We have a whole host of traditional games such as hook a duck, hoopla and the coconut shy. The idea is that there is something for everyone to try and the children can compete to win a token for their school team. The tokens will all be added up at the end of the Fair and the winning team (Peake, Daley, Malala or Rowling) will be awarded with a non-uniform day on Friday 3 May.
This year there is no entrance fee to the Fair but instead there is a £5 lotto with the chance of winning the top prize of £100 and two runner up prizes of £50. There will be the usual tombola but also a children’s tombola and many more games and competitions.
Given the number of activities we have to offer, this year more than ever we really need your support on the day. Please sign up to help on a stall if you can and help make this a really enjoyable and successful event for everyone. The link to the volunteer sign-up sheet is volunteersignup.org/BJFEJ
To ensure that everyone enjoys the event as much as possible, we will close all the games and stalls whilst the children are performing their dances so that no one will miss their child’s performance.
We also have space for a limited number of external stalls. We would prefer any stall holders to have links with the school and would ask that any stall holders donate 20% of any takings from the Fair to FLPS. If you would like a stall at the Fair please contact FLPS at FLPSCommittee@gmail.com
Wildchild photographers took individual photos of each of the children holding their Christingle candles during the church services in January. Those photos are now available to purchase on parentpay for £1.10. Once purchased, please collect your photograph from the office. All proceeds are being donated to FLPS by Wildchild.
Please don’t forget that the tickets are currently on sale on parent pay for the Easter Discos. The tickets are £5 each and include a hotdog, drink and Krispie cake.
Thank you so much to everyone who has offered to help so far-we really appreciate it. If anyone else is able to help at either of the discos or is able to make Krispie cakes, then please let Debbie Rutter or a member of the FLPS committee know.
Recycling Batteries – reminder
20,000 tonnes of batteries end up in landfill sites. This is the same weight as 4,000 elephants. We are committed to recycling and have agreed to recycle batteries. The recycling bin is situated by the side entrance, in the corridor, where the children come into school. Please send in the following batteries: AA, AAA, C, D and 9v (the 9v batteries need to have the top taped)
- Peake (green) in first place with 732 points
- Daley (blue) in second place with 712 points
- Malala (yellow) in third place with 701 points
- Rowling (red) in fourth place with 691 points
